Data Storage

The CRCD provides several file systems to support different stages of the research data lifecycle. For detailed information on paths, permissions, and snapshots, see the File Systems page in the User Manual.

Home Directories (/ihome)

Every user is provided with a home directory at /ihome/<primary group>/$USER upon account creation. This is your default login location and houses configuration files, session logs, and user-level environments.

  • No Cost Allocation: 75 GB per User (cannot be increased)

Standard Tier Project Data Storage (/ix and /ix1)

Enterprise storage for persistent research data. PIs and group members can create subfolders and stage data for use in compute jobs.

  • No Cost Allocation: 5 TB per Principal Investigator
  • Additional Storage: Available at $65 per TB per year — request additional storage

Performance Tier Project Data Storage (/vast)

High-performance all-flash storage designed for I/O-intensive and AI workloads. The VAST system delivers high-throughput, low-latency access via NFS, making it ideal for workflows that require faster data access than the standard tier provides. PIs and group members can create subfolders and stage data for use in compute jobs.

  • No Cost Allocation: 1 TB per Principal Investigator
  • Additional Storage: Available at $85 per TB per year — request additional storage
